December 2006, me and my fiance Fred found out we were going to be parents. We weren't planning on getting pregnant, in fact we weren't really planning on staying together much longer, but as fate took over, we found ourselves getting ready to be parents.
After the first month or two, I started to get extremely excited that I was going to be a mommy. Most of my family was super supportive, Fred's family couldn't have been happier. My parents on the other hand, not too thrilled. You see, they were concerned that we wouldn't have the means in small town Maine to raise our own baby.
To set the stage, I was in my last year of college, and I was working 30+ hrs. a week making pretty good money and Fred had a great job where he brought home 700$ a week. We had our own one bedroom apt. on a lake, two vehicles, three cats, a rabbit and a pretty good life. We knew that we could do it, because we loved each other and knew that we would be able to love a baby. Even though this wasn't something we planned, this was a suprise that we were happy about.
Five or Six months into the pregnancy we found out we were having a girl. I "knew" since about the 2nd month that she was a girl, but the ultrasound proved it. We couldn't agree on a name, but I loved the name Madalyn. I kept talking to my stomach and calling the baby Madie and eventually Fred got used to the name, so our little one became, Madie Ann.
I had some health problems, so I would frequent the doctors office bi-weekly after I reached the 7th month. I loved looking at pictures of my angel every time we would get an ultrasound. I shopped like crazy for her, and even traveled to Chicago for a baby shower (my parents at this time embraced the fact that they were going to be grandparents, probably b/c they knew they had no other choice).
With all of my baby stuff ready, I was induced on August 9th, and we had our 6 lb., 11oz. peanut, MADALYN ANN... on August 10th
